about

The Covid Chronicles are an EP trilogy meant to express the personal experience of living through the Covid -19 pandemic from a past, present and future frame of reference. Each band member wrote music and lyrics for a song that represents their own encounters with the various stages of the crisis.

The titles of the EP's (Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos) represent the various stages of the crisis through the metaphor of the Greek/Roman idea of Fate.

The ancient Greeks and Romans believed their fate was controlled by three sisters. The sisters each performed a different task. Clotho ("The Spinner") spun the thread of life on her spindle and decided who was born and when they were born. Lachesis ("The Allotter") measured the length of the thread on her rod. Atropos ("The Unturnable", aka death) cut the thread with her scissors to end a life.

Clotho, the first of the trilogy, represents the past: The panic; the fate that we have already lived through; the thread of life that has already been spun for us and the anxiety that came along with it.

These DIY/lowfi recordings were done with limited equipment and in a somewhat socially distant manner during the time of quarantine. In some cases, tracks were recorded alone in our own homes and then combined and mixed via technology.
